Butterfly Field Trip - Caspers Regional Wilderness Park

NABA Orange County's Butterfly Field Trip to Caspers Regional Wilderness Park, Orange County -  Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Anyone interested in learning more about our local native butterflies is invited to join.  

Meet at 9:00 a.m. at Caspers Park in the parking area just inside entrance Kiosk. Day parking fee required. We will walk 2-3 miles along the trail overlooking San Juan Creek from 9:00 am. to 12:30 a.m.  After the hike, we will have lunch at Nature Center and observe the butterflies within the Butterfly Gardens around the Nature Center.

OC NABA Founder - Don Mitchell


The butterfly community lost one it's greats, Don Mitchell, Founder of the Orange County Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association.

November 17, 1936 - August 16, 2009

Don Edward Mitchell passed away at University Of California Irvine Hospital due to complications from cancer.

He was a lover of butterflies, traveled the world, was a gifted writer, avid gourmet cook, gourmand eater, reader of all things, collector of knowledge and lover of life.

We will miss you Don, now go be with the butterflies.

BUTTERFLY COUNT Riley Park

Join members of the Orange County Chapter of NABA for a Butterfly Count at Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park on Sunday, July 12, 2009 Meet at the Nature Center 9:00 and hike the park until 12:00 noon.
