The butterfly community lost one it's greats, Don Mitchell, Founder of the Orange County Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association.
November 17, 1936 - August 16, 2009
Don Edward Mitchell passed away at University Of California Irvine Hospital due to complications from cancer.
He was a lover of butterflies, traveled the world, was a gifted writer, avid gourmet cook, gourmand eater, reader of all things, collector of knowledge and lover of life.
We will miss you Don, now go be with the butterflies.
I'm so sorry to hear about this. Don and I communicated several times while I was editor of Butterfly Gardener. He was witty and supportive and knowledgeable. My condolences to his family and to the members of NABA Orange County. I shall miss him.
